Great News: Dirigo High School can re-open for in-person learning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

RSU 56 has been continually monitoring the COVID-19 expectations and guidelines. We are excited to announce that we can re-open Dirigo High School for in-person learning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 24, 2021. We are pleased to report that this change is due to parents/families following CDC guidelines. The last two positive cases of COVID 19 at Dirigo High School resulted in no need for contact tracing as the families kept the students home as soon as they were notified that they were close contacts outside of school. When the individuals tested positive, they had not been present at DHS for the CDC required 48 hour period prior to developing symptoms and/or testing positive. This distinction allows us to re-open for in-person learning as opposed to remaining closed for 14 days.

The initial case did result in contact tracing. Those staff and students who were notified by Jillian Bryant that they must quarantine, need to complete the required quarantine period.

We continue to ask that you assist our schools in remaining open by following CDC guidelines.  Wearing a mask and practicing social distancing are the two greatest steps we can take to protect our communities from the spread of COVID-19 and, ultimately, to keep our schools open for in-person learning.

Thank you,

Pam Doyen, Superintendent of Schools
