Pam Doyen, Superintendent of Schools

March 20, 2020

Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff and Community Members,

As you know, on Sunday, March 15, 2020, Governor Mills provided a recommendation that Maine schools cease classroom-based instruction for the duration of the State of Civil Emergency. The State of Civil Emergency is in effect for 30 days and may be reissued as many times as the situation warrants.

RSU 56 will follow the recommendation of Governor Mills; therefore, the RSU 56 schools will remain closed until, at least, Monday, April 27, 2020. RSU 56 schools will plan to reopen when recommended by Governor Mills.

It is our goal to be a source of support during this stressful period. During the school closure period, RSU 56 staff will continue to provide remote learning activities for students as well as breakfast and lunches as previously outlined. If you or your family find yourself in need, please do not hesitate to contact RSU 56 for additional support. We care and are here for you.

The RSU 56 staff and community members have been amazing during the initial week preparing for remote learning. As hard as the changes are for everyone, I could not be more pleased with the response from all. We are fortunate to have such dedicated employees and supportive community members.

Sincerely,

Pam Doyen
