March 25, 2020

Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff and Community Members,

Yesterday, March 24, 2020, Governor Mills issued an order concerning non-essential services; therefore, our buildings will be closed to all non-employees through April 8, 2020 and perhaps longer, if the order is extended.

We will no longer be allowing parents, guardians or students to enter the buildings to pick up materials. If you are in need of school work, please email your child(ren)’s teacher(s) directly. We will work to orchestrate a curbside pickup, deliver to your home or mail necessary school work.

As a district, we will be communicating electronically as much as possible. Please let the school know if you have an updated email address or if you do not have an email address on file. Teachers will continue to correspond with students through their district issued email address. Students should be checking their RSU 56 email regularly.

It continues to be our goal to be a source of support during this stressful period. During the school closure period, RSU 56 staff will continue to provide remote learning activities for students as well as breakfast and lunches as previously outlined. If you or your family find yourself in need, please do not hesitate to contact RSU 56 for additional support. We care and are here for you.

The RSU 56 staff have done an incredible job transitioning to remote learning and acting as food service providers. I am immensely proud of the continued work that is happening across RSU 56.

Stay safe. Follow the recommendations of the CDC. Practice social distancing. Wash your hands regularly. We care about you and your family.

Sincerely,

Pam Doyen
